The God That i serve

Revelation Chapter 1
12I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man,"[b]dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

when pastor read this scripture in church i have to admit that at first i could not even listen but my eyes were glued to this portion and i kept reading it over and over again... this is the God that i serve, the God that pulled me from the depths as i was and continues to help me up when i fall. i belive that our view of God is some white bearded man with a big white robe sitting on a throne watching us and pointing out our wrong doings. but this is Him, a majestic God that holds the universe in his hand that has placed every star in the sky. our fear should not be an empty fear, a fear that as soon as we do someting wrong he will strike us dead, but a righteouss fear that the God of the universe is our protector and our strentgth, His love is more than enough... His grace is more than enough

Good stuff.......

These are just some verses that have been real encouraging the last week....

"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:22-23

"I sought the Lord, and He heard me; and delivered me from all my fears. and they looked to him and were radiant; and their faces were not ashamed" Psalm 34:4-5

"No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will never leave you nor forsake you." Joshua 1:5

Keep your eyes on Him.......

12 Stones

"When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, "Choose twelve men from the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight" This is to serve as a sign among you, in the future"
Joshua 4:1-3, 6

It was simply a memorial to God, not an idol. He meant for it to be built and move on, His intention is not for us to stay at the river although it is a great victory, but to move forward to what He has promised us no forgetting what we have endured for His sake and what we have gone through for His name. We cannont forget the mountain experiences in the valley. However if we stay at the river to worship the stones, then we have lost. Instead of worshiping the stone, worship the one who has brought us through the river.
